Chief Executive Officer, Senior Consultant

Timothy C. Phillips is the founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Senior Consultant of Phillips & Company. Mr. Phillips has more than 20 years of experience in investment management and previously served as the Board Chairman of the Willamette Family of Funds. He has deep industry experience in evaluating traditional and alternative asset classes. In 2004 he was a candidate for U.S. Congress and was appointed by the Oregon Governor’s Office to a position on the Oregon Growth Account Board. The Board manages an investment fund that makes venture capital and private equity investments on behalf of the State of Oregon. Additionally, he participates as a member of Young Presidents’ Association (YPO) International and the Oregon Chapter. Mr. Phillips is committed to giving back to the community. He is a member of the Endowment Committee and Board of Trustees for Oregon Episcopal School and serves on the Board of Regents and the Endowment Committee at Pepperdine University.

Mr. Phillips earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance from Pepperdine University.

Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Senior Consultant

James T. Smith is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Phillips & Company. He joined the firm in 1994 and has more than 20 years of experience in investment advising to corporations, foundations and endowments, defined contribution plans, and high-net worth individuals.

Mr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.

Senior Consultant

Pil Hwang is a senior consultant with Phillips & Company. He joined the firm in 1998 and has more than 11 years of experience in investment management with clients including corporations, foundations and endowments, defined contribution plans, and high-net worth individuals.

Mr. Hwang received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Lehigh University and law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School.
